Abstract
Males and females of Lutzomyia anthophora Addis were collected by vacu um aspiration from woodrat, Neotoma albigula Hartley, and rock squirre l, Citellus variegatus Bailey, nests along Arivaca Creek in Pima Count y, Arizona. Additional flies were collected from the same location usi ng CDC miniature light traps supplemented with CO2. These collections extend the recorded geographic distribution of this vector of Leishman ia mexicana Biagi westward by approximate to 724 km and place Lu. anth ophora in a Sonoran desert habitat.
