Pa. Steward et al., STUDIES ON PERMEATION THROUGH POLYMER LATEX FILMS .3. MODIFICATION USING SOLUBLE POLYMERIC ADDITIVES, Polymer international, 38(1), 1995, pp. 23-32
The influence of two distinct types of water leachable polymeric addit
ives upon the transport properties across polymer latex films is consi
dered. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, added as an aqueous solution, an
d a methyl methacrylate-methacrylic acid copolymer, added as latex par
ticles, are both shown to be more effective than lower molecular weigh
t rapidly water soluble additives, typified by sucrose, in enhancing s
olute transport and creating pathways for convective diffusion.
