Ms. Wang et al., PHOTOCHROMISM OF NOVEL SPIROOXAZINE .1. INVESTIGATION OF THE PHOTOCOLORATION IN POLYMER-FILMS AND FIBERS, Polymer international, 38(1), 1995, pp. 101-104
The photocoloration of a novel spirooxazine, 1-[beta-(4-trifluoromethy
l piro[indoline-2,3-[3H]-naphtho[2,1-b]-1,4-oxazine] (SO), doped in di
fferent polymer films and fibers was studied. The results show that ph
otocoloration increased with increasing concentration of spirooxazine
in polymer films. The photocoloration rate of spirooxazine in PMMA is
faster than that in PS due to the polarity of the polymer films. A gen
eral model for the kinetics of photocoloration of spirooxazine in poly
mer films is proposed. The results also show that the photocoloration
rate of spirooxazine in PET is faster than that in Nylon-6 due to the
crystallinity of the polymer fibers.
