Polymerization of 3,4-ethylenedioxy-thiophene (PEDT) was investigated
in neutral aqueous solution by electrochemical method. The electrochem
ical behavior of the polymer, and the electropolymerization mechanism
were studied by cyclic voltammetry, FTIR, XPS and UV-spectroscopy. The
study of polymerization mechanism showed that the electropolymerizati
on was-a radical cation polymerization process, and the anion of some
electrolytes which effected the character of the polymer was involved
in the polymerization.
