There were two decisions. The first was a decision not to operate beca use of the severity of the handicaps. And then, later, there was a dec ision to actively terminate her life....Giving the injection was not t he killing decision. The killing decision was to withhold treatment... .There is no moral difference [between killing and withholding useless medical treatment]. There is an emotional difference. And there shoul d not be a legal difference. Decisions not to treat must be scrutinize d just as much because they could be abused just as much.
