Abstract
Four different vaccination systems against porcine parvovirus were tes ted on twelve pig breeding units. The vaccine used was Parvoruvac (R) produced by Rhone Merieux. The period between two farrowings, the numb er- of viable piglets per litter and the development of antibody titre s during vaccination were measured. The results indicated that PPV can be controlled by vaccination, but two conditions must be fullfilled. All sows older than three months must be vaccinated twice within four to six weeks and all sows in the herd must be revaccinated twice a yea r. Two of the vaccination systems examined fulfilled these conditions and the choice of either of these is dependent on the size of the herd and the conditions of management of the herd.
