A. Veeranjaneyulu et al., ALPHA(2)-ADRENOCEPTOR MEDIATED ANTIINFLAMMATORY ACTION OF NEW IMIDAZOLI(DI)NES AGAINST CARRAGEENAN-INDUCED RAT PAW EDEMA, Asia Pacific journal of pharmacology, 10(1), 1995, pp. 5-8
Newer clonidine analogs ST-93, ST-600, ST-375 and clonidine exhibited
anti-inflammatory activity (Al) in carrageenin induced paw edema in ra
ts. Clonidine showed maximum Al activity while ST-375 exhibited minimu
m activity. All the agents retained their anti-carrageenin action in a
drenalectomised rats. The Al effect of ST-93, ST-600, ST-375 and cloni
dine was reversed by yohimbine. However, prazosin failed to block the
Al activity of these analogs. The data suggests that the newer clonidi
ne analogs possess Al activity mediated through activation of alpha(2)
-adrenoceptors against carrageenin induced rat paw edema.
