Abstract
A new type of ore mineralization, vertical variations, is given in the paper on the example of different deposits of the Pacific Ore Belt an d of other regions. Replacement of ore body systems at deep levels is considered. The ore body systems localized at different depth levels v ary in age. Examples of multistage porphyry-molybdenum, tin-tungsten d eposits and vein lead and metasomatic skarn-polymetallic deposits are discussed. Certain ore mineralization levels are found to be related t o metasomatic fronts, beyond which ore bodies wedge out. The distribut ion of ore body systems in different hypsometric levels is due to the pulsation (polystage) character of ore mineralization, which was propo sed by S.S. Smirnov as one of causes of the mineralization zonality.
