Abstract
The reaction of meso- and D,L-forms of bis(cyclohexyl)-2,2'-dione with a methanol solution of hydrogen peroxide in a neutral medium has been studied. It has been established that in the case of the D,L-form hyd roxy-2,3-dioxatricyclo[8.4.0.0(4,9)]tetradecane is formed, while the m eso-form affords ydroxy-2,3-dioxatricyclo[8.4.0.0(4,9)]tetradecane. Th e structures of the compounds have been established by X-ray structura l analysis and by H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy.
