A method with controlled forced convection using a cylindrical rotatin
g sample has been devised to determine the diffusion coefficients of i
ron and chromium dissolved in Pb17Li liquid metal at 500 degrees C. Th
e following values have been obtained: D(Fe/Pb17Li)500 degrees C = 4+/
-2 x 10(-14) m(2) s(-1) D(Cr/Pb17Li)500 degrees C = 8+/-2.5 x 10(-11)
m(2) s(-1). A value of chromium solubility in Pbl7Li at 500 degrees C
has also been deduced, C-s = 90.9 g m(-3) (10 wppm), which is compatib
le with the existing data at lower temperatures.
