Abstract
The title compounds, [Ph(4)As](2)[V2O3(NO3)(6)] 1, and [Ph(4)As](2)[V2 O3Cl4(NO3)(2)] 2, crystallised from solution in the reaction of tetrap henylarsonium nitrate with VO(NO3)3 and VOCl3, respectively, and the c rystal structures of the dianions show that they are structurally rela ted; the octahedral coo rdination of all vanadium atoms is achieved by two oxygens, a bidentate nitrate and two other monodentate groups, an d an unusual feature of compound 2 is the presence of both chlorine an d nitrate as ligands on vanadium(v).
