Abstract
Intramolecular photochemical cycloaddition in N-alkenoyldihydropydinon es or 3-acetyl-N-alkenoyltetrahydropydines is highly diastereoselectiv e and affords substituted cyclobutaquinolizidinones and cyclobutaindol izidinones, suitable derivatives of which undergo highly regioselectiv e radical ring opening of the cyclobutane ring.
