IDIOPATHIC ANNULAR SUBMITRAL ANEURYSM ASSOCIATED WITH TAKAYASUS-AORTITIS

The pathologic findings in two patients with idiopathic annular submit ral left ventricular aneurysms and coexistent Takayasu's aortitis are documented. The evidence of chronic persistent myocarditis in one pati ent and marked myocardial fibrosis in the other supports two theoretic al possibilities: first, the aneurysms may have an inflammatory etiolo gy and, second, a common inflammatory process may have accounted for b oth the myocardial and the aortic lesions.
