Abstract
The measurements of photoluminescence (PL) and optically detected magn etic resonance were carried out for a-Si:H/a-Si3N4:H multilayers. The results an accounted for in terms of the quantum-size effect. The allo y-effect model is also compared with the quantum-size-effect model for the interpretation of the results, particularly the temperature depen dence of the PL intensity and the well-layer thickness (L(W)) dependen ce of the PL efficiency. These results are also consistent with the qu antum-size-effect model. The two-dimensional nature of recombination p roperties manifests itself for the multilayers with L(W) of less than 30 Angstrom.
