C. Herold et al., NEW STOICHIOMETRIC AND STRUCTURAL DATA CO NCERNING THE BINARY PHASES OF THE CESIUM-C-60 FULLERITE SYSTEM, Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie II. Mecanique, physique, chimie, astronomie, 321(3), 1995, pp. 103-110
It has been shown that in thermodynamical equilibrium conditions only
two binary intercalation cesium-C-60 phases exist: a face centred cubi
c CsC60 and a body centred cubic CS6C60 phases. They are adjacent in t
he phase diagram; from that point of view cesium differs clearly from
rubidium and potassium, which both exhibit richer binary phase diagram
s. For these alkali metals indeed there are, between MC(60) and M(6)C(
60), two other phases with chemical formulas M(3)C(60) and M(4)C(60).
While Cs4C60 seems never to have been mentioned before, the existence
of CS3C60 appears as quite a controversial topic.
