Criteria for space-charge-limited currents to be applied as a spectros
copical method for localized electron states elucidation are examined,
namely, density of states, their energy position, and temperature. Th
e ''visibility'' of the states is determined by the statistics of the
occupation of the injected space charge. The resolving power of the me
thod is increased by decreasing temperature during the experiment. (C)
