Two topotypes of Omphalophloios cyclostigma (Lesquereux) White, with p
reserved sporangia, allow a straight identification with the lycophyte
fructification Sporangiostrobus Bode. A reexamination of the specimen
s figured by White (1898, 1899), and described as vegetative remains,
shows them to be partly full disarticulated fertile axes attributable
to Puertollania Remy and Remy and partly vegetative remains identifiab
le with Bodeodendron Wagner and Spinner. Megaspores obtained from the
sporangia-bearing topotypes of O. cyclostigma, can be attributed to Su
perbisporites Potonie et Kremp. it is concluded that Sporangiostrobus/
Puertollania and Bodeodendron are synonyms of Omphalophloios.
