A justification for the basic principles of Alfven's resonance theory
is given for the case of two-dimensional inhomogeneous plasma configur
ations. The problem was stated by Hansen and Goertz (1992), who assume
d that the character of MHD-wave transformation in the region of Alfve
n resonance should be is substantially modified in two-dimensional inh
omogeneous plasma configurations. Correct treatment with the use of th
e Frobenius method shows the Hansen and Goertz assumptions to be incon
sistent. A singular character of the wave field in the neighborhood of
the resonance shell still holds even in systems with multidimensional
inhomogeneity of the Alfven's velocity.
