Abstract
It is proven that the quantum-mechanical approach to the analysis of g lobal radial breathing of the hedgehog-like field configuration leads to dynamically stable soliton solutions in the nonlinear sigma model w ithout a Skyrme term. Such solutions exist only when the chiral symmet ry of the model is broken.
