Tj. Moore et W. Crimando, ATTITUDES TOWARD TITLE-I OF THE AMERICANS-WITH-DISABILITIES-ACT, Rehabilitation counseling bulletin, 38(3), 1995, pp. 232-247
The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes toward the
employment provisions of the Americans With Disabilities Act (1990) he
ld by rehabilitation service providers (n = 164), private sector repre
sentatives (n = 178), and people with disabilities (n = 186). An instr
ument was developed and used to survey the three groups. Significant m
ultivariate differences (p < .001) were found among the three sample g
roups on their attitudes toward Title I. The areas of cost, effectiven
ess, and attitude toward federal legislation were particularly importa
nt in separating the groups. This may indicate that there is no clear
vision shared by the three groups about the future under Title I. Neve
rtheless, rehabilitation providers may lead the way in bringing the di
sparate groups together.
