An optodigital position converter based on a Dammann grating is propos
ed. The converter is based on a diffraction grating with a high diffra
ction efficiency coupled with a binary encoding mask. The module permi
ts parallel processing of a scene so that one can extract the position
of a correlation peak. Compression of the information is also perform
