R. Lamedica et al., A MODEL OF LARGE LOAD AREAS FOR HARMONIC STUDIES IN DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS, IEEE transactions on power delivery, 12(1), 1997, pp. 418-425
This paper describes an improved model of rotating loads in complex lo
ad areas. The first section of the paper concentrates on the theoretic
al aspects of load modeling in harmonic penetration studies with a par
ticular reference to the rotating part of load ?he second section illu
strates the results achieved from the experimental surveys conducted b
ath in the laboratory and at a major industrial customer, in order to
validate the modal proposed in the field The third section describes t
he calibration stage of the proposed model based on results from a sta
tistical survey conducted at manufacturers on parameter variation vs.
frequency with a large sample of bath LV and MV induction motors. Fina
lly, some guidelines are also provided for a correct use of the propos
ed model in system studies concerning harmonic penetration within elec
tric distribution networks.
