Abstract
Molecular beam titration measurements of CO reacting with preadsorbed atomic oxygen show evidence of two kinetically distinct oxygen species on Ag(110) produced by the dissociation of molecular oxygen at 180 K. The CO2 reaction pathways observed at various temperatures (100-200 K ) can be rationalized on the basis of an extended Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism, which involves a competitive reaction of the two oxygen sp ecies.
