CCD OBSERVATIONS OF VISUAL BINARY STARS

A magnifying optical system attached to a 60-cm telescope has been use d to obtain CCD images of 19 visual binary stars with the B and V filt ers and without a filter. The relative positions of the components and their magnitude differences were determined with an internal accuracy of about 0.'' 03 and 0.(m)1, respectively. A new iterative fitting pr ocedure is applied to image processing, allowing the point spread func tion (PSF) and parameters of a binary system to be estimated a posteri ori. A new component was discovered in the binary star ADS 14909.
