Va. Gasilov et al., GENERATION OF INTENSE RADIATION FLUXES AND MEGABAR SHOCK-WAVES USING COMPRESSING LINERS, Plasma physics reports, 21(5), 1995, pp. 377-384
A numerical model is proposed for describing the processes of multicha
rge-plasma compression. The generation of soft X-ray and pressure puls
es in a collision of a highly emitting plasma liner with a coaxial rig
id rod is numerically simulated. The liner interaction with the plasma
corona that is created as a result of the rod ablation due to the abs
orption of the liner radiation is shown to result in a compression of
the liner plasma. This compression leads to a considerable increase in
the intensity of the shock wave produced during the collision process
; both the intensity of the radiation pulse and the amplitude of the p
ressure in the rod are also shown to grow.
