Abstract
The No. 2 cold tandem mill at Kashima Steel Works (2KCM) has been newl y constructed. There are four key technologies. First, a fully automat ed operation system has been realized in rolling mill, roll shop and c oil transportation. Second, high accuracy of thickness has been accomp lished. Third, pair cross mill is introduced as the first application to cold rolling. Fourth, a perfect clean system is adopted. In this pa per, outline of the 2KCM and rolling characteristics of pair cross mil l are discussed.
