Abstract
This article provides an overview of mood disorders according to Diagn ostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th ed.) criteria an d other relevant information. Differential diagnosis is facilitated th rough discussion of differences and similarities among menial disorder s, age and gender-related patterns of mood disorders, and useful diagn ostic tools.
