The aerial parts of Mycelis muralis (Asteraceae) yielded two flavones
and caffeic acid derivative, while the roots of the plant afforded nin
e sesquiterpene lactones commonly found in Lactuca species, five of wh
ich in glycosidic form. The compounds were isolated from ethanol extra
cts by chromatographic methods and were identified on the basis of spe
ctral analysis. They are reported for the first time from this species
.
