K. Lollike et al., AN ELISA FOR GRANCALCIN, A NOVEL CYTOSOLIC CALCIUM-BINDING PROTEIN PRESENT IN LEUKOCYTES, Journal of immunological methods, 185(1), 1995, pp. 1-8
Grancalcin is a newly discovered cytosolic calcium-binding protein, be
longing to the group of EF-hand proteins. Grancalcin is specifically a
ssociated with cells originating in the bone marrow. Grancalcin binds
reversibly to secretory vesicles and plasma membranes in human neutrop
hils and might therefore play a role in the regulation of vesicle/gran
ule exocytosis. We describe here the production of recombinant grancal
cin, the generation of antibodies to the protein and the development o
f a specific, accurate and sensitive ELISA for the detection of human
leukocytic grancalcin. This ELISA may be useful for monitoring leukocy
te infiltration into tissues.
