Dm. Barnes et al., A CLINICAL-EVALUATION OF A RESIN-MODIFIED GLASS-IONOMER RESTORATIVE MATERIAL, The Journal of the American Dental Association, 126(9), 1995, pp. 1245-1253
Compomers, resin-modified glass ionomers, were developed to improve th
e physical properties and clinical handling of glass ionomers. Compome
rs can be designed to be light-activated and used as restoratives or l
iners. This article reports data collected up to 12 months after place
ment of both compomer restorations and liners and is part of an ongoin
g study evaluating the performance of this material. Based on this dat
a, the authors conclude that this new generation of light-activated gl
ass-ionomer restoratives provides clinical results comparable to those
recorded for composite resins at 12 months.
