Abstract
Different characterization techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrar ed spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy ha ve been applied to analyse the different fractions of flyash. FTIR stu dies show the presence of quartz, alumina, hematite and different mine ral matters whereas XRD confirm the presence of these minerals in diff erent fractions of coal flyash. The morphology has been studied by SEM and it is found that it consists largely of solid or hollow spherical particles of variable size with small bulgings of siliceous and alumi nous glass with the appearance of cracking at the tip of bulges.
