Abstract
Many algorithms that compute acoustic or electromagnetic fields scatte red by surfaces of revolution require fast evaluation of the azimuthal Fourier components G(m) of the Green's function for the Helmholtz equ ation in three dimensions. In this article we derive a recurrence rela tion for the functions G(m) and obtain explicit formulas for their par tial derivatives. These observations significantly reduce the complexi ty of the computation of the scattered fields generated by axisymmetri c scatterers. (C) 1995 American Institute of Physics.
