An allergen specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with high speci
ficity and sensitivity was developed for the diagnosis of atopic disea
se in dogs. This test and intradermal allergy tests were performed on
95 canine dermatologic patients with probable diagnoses of atopic dise
ase. The results of the study are given, the two testing procedures co
mpared, and a thorough discussion of the findings is provided.
