Abstract
A monolithic wavelength converter of long-wavelength infrared radiatio n to short-length infrared or visible radiation based on a quantum-wel l structure has been proposed and considered theoretically. The quantu m-well converter utilizes intersubband electron transitions in the emi tter quantum well. The threshold intensity of long-wavelength infrared radiation necessary for laser generation is evaluated as a function o f the structural and physical parameters of the device.
