Monolayers and multilayers of amphiphilic polymers - polyvinyl octals
(PVO) with different degree of substitution of hydroxylic groups and t
heir compounds with iodine - were investigated. Analysis of the nature
of the PVO-iodine interaction suggests some conclusions about the com
plex formation between the polymer in monolayers and the halogen disso
lved in a subphase. It was found that iodine induces polymeric chain w
idening, changes the order in molecular lattice of condensed phase and
gives strong elasticity to the monolayer films. The monolayer iodine-
PVO complex with different degree of polymer substitution of hydroxyli
c groups was stable on water and could be deposited onto hydrophylic s
ubstrates.
