Abstract
Transport extraction based on solvent sublation has been proposed for separation and preconcentration of trace analytes from aqueous solutio ns. The experimental capabilities of this method were investigated usi ng a complex of molecular iodine with ionic surfactants. A comparison of transport extraction with conventional solvent extraction was also made. The theoretical principles of transport extraction have been rev ealed and the basic difference between these two extractive separation s has been explained. The results showed that the non-equilibrium natu re of transport extraction gives it some distinctive advantages over e quilibrium solvent extraction.
