Abstract
We calculate the indirect interaction of two localized spins within an itinerant ferromagnet, and derive an exact analytic expression when t he conduction bands are parabolic. The ground state for two localized spin-1/2 is analyzed for a physical range of parameters. It is shown t hat the ground state has an unexpected dependence on the net polarizat ion of the itinerant electrons in the case of high itinerant electron density and strong coupling between the localized spins and itinerant electrons.
