The infrared spectra of the nu(8) band of natural methylene chloride a
nd isotopically pure (CH2Cl2)-Cl-35 have been recorded at a resolution
of 0.0025 cm(-1) in the range 1100-1400 cm(-1) with a Bruker IFS 120
HR Fourier transform interferometer. The spectrum of the vs fundamenta
l band has been analyzed for the most abundant isotopic species (CH2Cl
2)-Cl-35 and (CH2ClCl)-Cl-35-Cl-37, as well as the nu(4) + nu(8) + nu(
4) hot band of (CH2Cl2)-Cl-35. From a rotational analysis, excited sta
te constants up to quartic terms have been obtained, using Watson's A-
reduction Hamiltonian in the I-r representation. No perturbations have
been observed. The standard deviations of the fits vary from 0.44 X 1
0(-3) to 0.62 X 10(-3) cm(-1). (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
