Abstract
Femtosecond pulses were used to study the photoexcitation dynamics and transient photoinduced dichroism in polydiacetylene 4BCMU film. Ultra fast photoinduced dichroism acid optical Kerr gate response were obser ved. These measurements allowed estimation of the diffusion constant ( D similar to 0.1 cm(2)/s), nonlinear index of refraction (n2 similar t o 10(-8) esu), and third-order susceptibility (Delta(chi)((3))similar to 6 X 10(-10) esu), in the film.
