Abstract
Extension to 2-furaldehyde of the 5-hydroxyisoxazolidine route for the C-2-homologation of aromatic aldehydes allowed us to ascertain the po ssibility of both an efficient multiple iteration and a remarkable abb reviation of the procedure. The results are of relevant interest also in view of potential further elaborations of the so obtained 2-furyl p olyalkenals by Various known reactions involving the furan moiety.
