A consequence of strong antiferromagnetic correlations in models of hi
gh-Tc cuprates-is the appearance in photoemission (PES) calculations o
f considerable more weight above the Fermi momentum (PF) than expected
for non-interacting electrons. This effect, qualitatively discussed b
y Kampf and Schrieffer under the name of ''shadow bands'', is here qua
ntitatively analyzed in the two dimensional Hubbard and t-J models usi
ng Monte Carlo and exact diagonalization techniques in the realistic s
trong coupling regime.
