Abstract
Hepatitis C virus establishes a persistent infection in humans and chi mpanzees despite virus-specific cell-mediated immune responses. Availa ble data suggest that these responses do provide some control of ongoi ng hepatitis C virus replication and are an important factor contribut ing to chronic hepatitis.
