During a six-year period we prospectively studied eight children who p
resented with supracondylar fractures of the humerus and of the forear
m on the same side. They were treated by prompt closed reduction, perc
utaneous fixation with Kirschner wires, and appropriate management of
neurovascular and soft-tissue injuries. The results were assessed clin
ically and radiographically at a minimum of 12 months after injury. Ac
cording to a clinical scoring system they were acceptable in seven chi
ldren and poor in one.
