J. Sepulveda et Ns. Figoli, NI SIO2 CATALYSTS, EFFECT OF NI REDUCTION ON ACTIVITY AND THIOTOLERANCE DURING ETHYLBENZENE HYDROGENATION/, Reaction kinetics and catalysis letters, 55(2), 1995, pp. 383-389
The effect of nickel reduction on Ni/SiO2 catalysts with various metal
loadings on the activity and thiotolerance during the selective ethyl
benzene hydrogenation has been studied. It was found that in the prese
nce of Ni2+ species, there exists an icrease in thiotolerance, which i
s attributed to a selective trapping effect of these species for the t
hiophene molecules. 3-5 surface nickel atoms are affected by one thiop
hene molecule, indicating that thiophene adsorption is mainly coplanar
with the surface.
