Gs. Yu et al., DUAL CIRCULAR-POLARIZATION RAMAN OPTICAL-ACTIVITY OF RELATED TERPENE MOLECULES - COMPARISON OF BACKSCATTERING DCPI AND RIGHT-ANGLE ICP SPECTRA, Journal of Raman spectroscopy, 26(8-9), 1995, pp. 733-743
The backscattering in-phase dual circular polarization (DCP1) Raman an
d Raman optical activity (ROA) for a series of terpene molecules is re
ported. The selected molecules were studied in three groups of closely
related structures and correlations between ROA features and structur
al elements among molecules within these groups are discussed. One aim
of this study was to uncover additional details regarding the sensiti
vity of ROA to stereo-structural features in molecules and to elucidat
e further the degree of local character of this new stereochemical pro
be. Another was to compare the backscattering DCP1 ROA intensities rep
orted here with those obtained using depolarized right-angle incident
circularly polarized (ICP) ROA for some of the same molecules more tha
n a decade ago.
