Abstract
The effects of crystallizable cordierite glass on devitrification of P yrex borosilicate glass at 800 degrees C have been investigated. X-ray diffraction results show that with a cordierite glass content greater than 40 vol.%, the cristobalite observed in the pure Pyrex borosilica te glass is completely prevented. The above result is further evidence d by thermal expansion measurements in which the thermal expansion coe fficient decreases dramatically with cordierite glass present.
