Abstract
A giant cavernous hemangioma of the left arm with severe thrombocytope nia and consumptive coagulopathy was observed in a neonate. initial tr eatment with prednisone, platelet transfusions, and clotting replaceme nt failed to control the bleedings. The child was then treated with da ily subcutaneous infusions oi interferon alpha-2a. Coagulopathy rapidl y improved and transfusions were drastically reduced. The hemangioma r egressed progressively and disappeared after 4 months of treatment. (C ) 1997 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
