A giant cavernous hemangioma of the left arm with severe thrombocytope
nia and consumptive coagulopathy was observed in a neonate. initial tr
eatment with prednisone, platelet transfusions, and clotting replaceme
nt failed to control the bleedings. The child was then treated with da
ily subcutaneous infusions oi interferon alpha-2a. Coagulopathy rapidl
y improved and transfusions were drastically reduced. The hemangioma r
egressed progressively and disappeared after 4 months of treatment. (C
