S. Zarkik et al., FUSION OF BOVINE LEUKEMIA-VIRUS WITH TARGET-CELLS MONITORED BY R18 FLUORESCENCE AND PCR ASSAYS, Journal of virology, 71(1), 1997, pp. 738-740
PCR and R18 fluorescence dequenching assays have been combined to moni
tor the kinetics of fusion of bovine leukemia virus with target cells
(CC81, OVK, or Raji). Antibodies raised against gp51 allow us to demon
strate that not only the hydrophobic N-terminal domain of the transmem
brane glycoprotein gp30 but also specific domains of gp51 (amino acids
39 to 103) are involved in bovine leukemia virus-cell fusion.
