Relationship of genetically determined apoprotein E polymorphism to th
e type of plasma lipoprotein system response to influences which modif
y levels of dietory (exogenous) or synthesized in the liver (endogenou
s) lipoproteins was studied. Changes in lipoprotein system after each
meal were more favorable in E3/2 phenotype than in E3/3 or E4/3. Corre
ction of moderate hyperlipidemia in phenotype E3/2 by sustained releas
e nicotinic acid was followed by the least pronounced changes of param
eters of lipoprotein spectrum in response to meals. One should take th
is into consideration when selecting type of hypolipidemic therapy.
