Abstract
We compared 163 patients with acute myocardial infarction with 227 pat ients undergoing angiography for anginal-like chest pain, and determin ed the allele frequencies of the angiotensin-converting enzyme gene in sertion/deletion polymorphism, We found that the D allele was associat ed with acute myocardial infarction, particularly in women, and was in dependent of other risk factors, including 1-, 2-, or 3-vessel disease , low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, hi,oh-density lipoprotein chole sterol, lipoprotein(a), blood pressure, and body mass index.
